Lido di Jesolo

Lido di Jesolo is a small resort town in the northern part of the Apennine Peninsula, on the Adriatic coast, the province of Venice, Veneto region. The resort was built in the 1960s and quickly became very popular among tourists. The swimming season in Lido di Jesolo opens in May and lasts until September. During the hottest days the water temperature reaches up to 30 degrees. Due to its geographical location, there are almost no storms and high waves here.

Lido di Jesolo from the very beginning was developed as a resort with all the main streets located along the coastline. Lido di Jesolo is known for its longest shopping street in Europe.

About 15 kilometers of the beach line and beautiful, quiet and shallow sea. Lido di Jesolo is fairly quiet, unspoiled by the tourist bustle town, and it is well suited for family holidays. But for outdoor enthusiasts there is something here as well: you can play volleyball on special courts, right on the beach, and you can take a ride on a catamaran, jet ski, water ski, or try some windsurfing, or scuba dive to observe the rich underwater world of the Adriatic sea. You can rent a yacht too. In Lido di Jesolo there is a water park “Aqualandia” famous for its water slides for children and adults. During the holiday season on the beach you will see different entertainment programs and competitions, for example, for the best sand sculpture, which begin in May and continue through the summer, and then end in September with massive fireworks.

Of all the attractions in Lido di Jesolo we want to mention the town hall built in the late 19th century. The building has remained almost completely intact and today it houses the city library. The Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua is another landmark in Lido di Jesolo. The lighthouse of Lido di Jesolo, which is almost 50 meters high, was built in 1950 on the site of the old lighthouse of 1840. Check out the exhibition at the Museum of Natural History and the archaeological excavations in the north of Jesolo of the ruins of the city walls dating back to the Roman Empire.

Laguna Vale in the old day had been used by locals mainly for fishing, and today it is a nature reserve that contains a huge number of rare animals. Also worth visiting is the exhibition of sharks at The Shark Expo, and an interactive aquarium.

Not far from Lido di Jesolo there is a Tower of Fogs (Torre del Caligo) dating back to the 11th century. Unfortunately, it was almost completely destroyed leaving only the cross brought there, according to a legend, by a holy hermit.

You should also visit the antiques market Casa Bianca where you will find a great variety of different gifts for any taste.

Lido di Jesolo is a true paradise for shopping. In addition to a great number of boutiques in the city, not far from here there are also the cities of Ravenna, Padua, Verona. You can get to Venice by bus or by boat. In 2-3 hours you can drive from to Milan or Florence. By water you can reach even Croatia and Slovenia. Families with children like taking a trip to Lake Garda, where there is a huge amusement park, the Italian equivalent of Disneyland - Gardaland.

In Lido di Jesolo there are more than 2000 different cafes, restaurants, pizzerias. Here everyone will find something to suit their taste.
