Bordighera

Bordighera is a beautiful  Italian town  that is located on the Ligurian Riviera, near the border with France. In this popular tourist resort there are magnificent  hotels, beautiful beaches, a mild and pleasant climate, there is an atmosphere of joy and fun.

Bordighera is divided into the Old Town and the New Town. The Old Town, located at Cape San Ampelio, is the ancient village of the local fishermen and farmers. Walking through the narrow winding  streets of the city you can see important monuments such as the historic city wall with three gates, the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, the Chapel of Sant’Ampelio.

The New Town is the part of Bordighera  where there are excellent hotels, luxury villas and beautiful gardens.

Bordighera was considered the favorite place of the English aristocracy, the holiday resort  of prominent figures of science and culture. Even  Queen Margherita di Savoia ordered to build  here her winter residence. The famous writer Giovanni Ruffini described this town in his work “Dr.Antonio”. In the XIX century  the English scholar  Clarence Bicknell  founded a museum of prehistoric cave paintings. In this museum there are thousands of copies of ancient cave drawings of Monte Bego.

On the main street of Bordighera, Corso Italia, there are charming shops of all the most famous brands. Shoppers can also visit the city market which is open every day except Sunday.

In Bordighera  the beach is covered with pebbles. There are bathing establishments equipped with all necessary facilities such as cabins, showers, deck chairs and umbrellas. You can practise many sports  such as water skiing, surfing, scuba diving, wakeboarding.

The beach is beautiful at night, too. There are music, games, events, that make the holiday definitely not boring.  It is pleasant even a simple walk on the beach.

There are many restaurants that offer delicious menu. The  local cuisine is famous for its sauces and condiments, such as pesto that is added to all dishes : pasta, seafood, soups and pizza. Basil is also widely used in local dishes.

In Bordighera there are many hotels of all categories, five-star luxury hotels with bars, restaurants, gyms, solarium, sauna, wellness, beauty salons …, four and three star hotels that offer their guests a pleasant  holiday.
