Viareggio is a very famous city in Tuscany. It is located on the shores of the Ligurian Sea, in the area called Riviera di Versilia. Two centuries ago, this not so remarkable town, which is carefully guarded by the Apuan Alps, caused an interest of the most affluent residents of Florence, and they started coming here on holidays and building their villas here. Since that time, the city attracts both tourists from all over the world as well as local residents, who to this day consider Viareggio their favorite place. This town has everything you need for a great, comfortable stay including a very well developed infrastructure, which had long been at the highest level.
The city is full of entertainment venues, such as bars, restaurants, cafés, and outdoor terraces. Also worth mentioning is a wide range of luxury hotels, boutiques and beauty salons. In Viareggio, tourists can not only enjoy sunbathing on the beach and swimming in the sea, but also engage in active sports. On the beach you can learn to ride a kite, surf or dive to the seabed. There are also tennis courts and bicycle rental.
Particularly we would like to highlight the restaurants in the city, because they are perfect for people who enjoy fine dining. Especially famous here are seafood dishes cooked by special recipes, meat dishes, and other specialties of Italian cuisine. Most taverns offer healthy salads which are served with olive oil famous worldwide for its healthy qualities. Also popular are traditional dishes of roasted vegetables, bean dishes, fine cheeses, and, of course, delicious desserts.
Despite the fact that many Italian cities are known for their architectural heritage, the city of Viareggio is different and stands out a little in the general background of the area. Yet it is not the fault of its inhabitants. The thing is that during the World War II many architectural structures and historical monuments were, unfortunately, destroyed.
However, Viareggio still has wonderful places that you should definitely visit. One of these places is the town’s quay, which miraculously survived in a series of events of the previous century. This promenade features the most popular cafes and restaurants, as well as all the luxury hotels of the city. Fans of shopping will not be disappointed either since Viareggio has many luxury boutiques of famous designers and fashion houses, which are famous for their reasonable prices. Not far from here you will also find modern shopping malls.
It is noteworthy that the city of Viareggio was very liked by a famous Italian composer who lived in the 19th century, Giacomo Puccini. Here, on the homonymous villa where he lived most of his life, there is a museum of the composer. We also recommend visiting the palace of Paolina, which is located in Torre del Lago. In the palace you will find a famous exhibition, which is dedicated to musical instruments and contemporary art.
Many tourists go to Viareggio to experience the atmosphere of this city. Like many other centuries-old cities, Viareggio is known for its luxury and at the same time the spirit of joy and lightness of being, which permeates the entire city. Here you can abandon all worldly things and enjoy a quiet peaceful time, or party all night until the morning at local nightclubs. In Viareggio you are guaranteed to feel rested, regardless of what type of vacation you choose: be it extreme biking in the woods, boat trips on luxury yachts or just a relaxing time on the beach with a glass of delicious wine accompanied by the sound of the waves. Whatever holiday you prefer, this paradise on earth will not leave anyone indifferent!
