Milan - the capital of Lombardy, the most important city in the north of Italy, and the main city on the economy and finance of the country. Milan is rightfully considered one of the greatest centers of science and high technology, as well as fashion and design. During the Second World War, the city was badly damaged, so a large area of Milan was destroyed and then rebuilt. That's why Milan manages to combine in itself ancient architectural structures along with modern fashionable constructions.
Perhaps, one of the most interesting things we know about Milan is the unique shopping that the whole world is carrying out for itself. In the city there is a whole quarter of Quadrilatero della Moda, where there are boutiques with the most famous brands of the best designers. Not far from the city there is a huge number of stock centers, where you can buy the best brands of European brands at ridiculous prices.
Of the sights, in Milan there is the Academy of Arts and the Gallery of Brera, as well as the Gallery of Modern Art on Via Palestra and the Museum of Science and Art. Also widely known here is Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, this is one of the best galleries in Milan. The name "Pinakothek" means a room in which images of art are stored, originally it was visited by Athenian inhabitants. Then, during the Renaissance, this name was often used to designate collections of paintings. The name Ambrosiana comes from the name Ambrosia of Milan, which in the 17th century was the patron saint of Milan. The gallery was founded by Cardinal Federico Borromeo. The building however looks very modest and at first glance it may seem that there is nothing to see, however, only the Caravaggio Fruit Basket, as well as Raphael's sketches for the famous Athenian school, will not leave anyone indifferent. Here are still pictures of other famous artists, such as Titian, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and many others.
It is also necessary to visit the Church of Sant'Ambrogio and San Lorenzo Maggiore, the Northern Palace, the Arc de Triomphe in Milan.
For those who travel around the city by car it will be important to know that parking in Milan is paid and it costs 1.5 euros for each hour and 2 euros for five hours after 20.00. To pay for parking, you will need to purchase a map of SostoMilano in any tobacco kiosk, erase the protective layer showing the card number and paste it on the windshield.
Since January 16, 2012 in Milan introduced a zone, called Areya C - a zone of the historic center of the city, which they let on the car only for a fee. This was done only in order to facilitate the movement of pedestrians along the central streets of the city.
Of the important things that you need to do in Milan - it's necessary to stand in the shadow of the greatness of the Duomo cathedral, on the square that bears the same name. Also in the city you should enjoy the beautiful paintings of Caravaggio, Raphael and Titian in the Pinacotheca Ambrosiana. You should visit the opera at the famous La Scala theater and enjoy the wonderful voices of world-class opera singers. Last but not least, it's worth to go through local boutiques and thoroughly update your wardrobe with the best brands and the most fashionable accessories. And, of course, enjoy the fun and joy of nightclubs and restaurants, bars and pubs, of which there are a myriad.
