Verona is a beautiful city, which, along with Paris is considered to be one of the most romantic cities in the world. According to the saddest story in the world, written by Shakespeare, in this city the events of a tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet took place.
The city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Verona is also called a “small Rome”, as it is considered one of the most beautiful cities in all of Italy. Many historical landmarks and ancient buildings were built in the city back in the 13th-14th centuries.
Verona is famous for being a shopping destination for fans of shopping not only from Italy but from the whole of Europe. The best place for shopping in Verona is Via Mazzini. It is located between Piazza Bra and Piazza delle Erbe. Passing by this street, it is simply impossible to resist from visiting the local shops whose windows lure you with their luxury and glamorous beauty. Here you can buy beautiful branded items from the very best designers. Via Mazzini’s rival is the street Corso Porta Borsari, which also delights tourists with plenty of big-name stores and showrooms of emerging designers, as well as cozy shops with original stationery.
For those who like interesting souvenirs and fun antique trinkets, various paintings and statues, there is a great street Corso Santa Anastasia - a place where you can buy all of it at reasonable prices. Among the paintings you find here there are also works by contemporary artists, some of which depict in different versions the famous Verona couple of lovers.
The city center is Piazza Bra, a very picturesque place where you can take a few pictures with the background of the mighty Alps. You will also find here a monument to Victor Emmanuel II and a monument to Italian partisans. You can get to the Piazza by walking through majestic and beautiful arches Porton della Bra.
We highly recommend you visiting the Arena, which was built under Antoninus and has been preserved in excellent condition to the present day. The building is a large marble oval of 152 meters long and 123 meters wide. Inside the building there are 46 rows of seats, designed for 22 thousand spectators. In the 19th century, in order to get rid of barbarism and instill civilization in people, the Arena began showing interesting concerts and operas, which, by the way, were very much appreciated by locals.
However, the most popular place among tourists is of course the house of Juliet, which really belonged to the Capello family. There is a cute arch here covered with many declarations of love - a good tradition here which is maintained by people in love. Through the arch you can get to a Juliet’s balcony. Here, in a beautiful garden, you can usually see a lot of tourists looking at the balcony of the girl. On the balcony there are always pseudo-Juliets posing. They smile sweetly to onlookers, wave at them and blow them kisses. Today, there is a museum in the house that very often organizes temporary exhibitions. The house also has a majestic statue of Juliet, and tourists love to be photographed with it. Next to the house there is a gift shop where you can buy interesting antique trinkets.
