Vigo di Fassa
Vigo di Fassa is an Italian town in the province of Trento, located at the foot of the Rosengarten in Val di Fassa. The valley extends for 20 km in the Dolomites. Val di Fassa is surrounded by great mountains Sassolungo, Rosengarten, Marmolada and Sella. This valley is part of the famous ski area of Sella Ronda.
The town, despite the devastating fire dated back to1921, still maintain many traces of the past and ancient cultures of rural crafts.
Directly from the town centre, in a modern cable car you can reach the top of Ciampedie, which is the starting point for summer hiking in the rocky mountains of the Rosengarten and winter skiing centre Rosengarten.
Here, apart from the steep slopes, is an innovative and very popular Baby Park for all ages children, where they can have fun. From the top of Ciampedie (2000 m above sea level) you can admire the beautiful view of the massif Rosengarten Val di Fassa, the towers of Vajolet and Larséch. Ciampedie guarantee the snow by the end of November. For beginners, there are tracks for a total length of 16 km and for experts the track Thoeni, well-practiced by the famous Italian ski champion Alberto Tomba. The route is not very long, only 2 kilometres, but very cool.
The resort is equipped with excellent ski lifts and chairlifts.
With one ski pass you can ski all the way ski resorts Sella Ronda.
In Vigo di Fassa you can find many attractions. Among them, the Church of San Giovanni of the fifteenth century, which is considered one of the oldest buildings in the valley. In this magnificent Gothic structure characterized by a high bell tower with spire you have the opportunity to observe the frescoes of the sixteenth century.
Isolated on a hill above the modern city, there is another church of the Renaissance, also in the Gothic style, dedicated to San Giuliano. Next to the church there is the chapel of the same age, dedicated to St. Maurice.
Vigo di Fassa also proposes to visit Ladin Museum and Cultural Institute Laden, in which the ancient language and Romansh culture has been studied and protected by.

In February is celebrated Ladino Carnival - the most attractive and most popular Laden cultural traditions. The main characters are beautiful wooden masks (usually pinewood), hand-made, called by locals "faceres". Throughout the period of the Carnival from 17th January to 12th February, you can visit the theatre, street festivals, competitions cross country skiing and sleigh rides, and of course, a large masked ballroom.
