Santa Cristina (Santa Cristina) is located 1428 meters above sea level; it is the smallest town in Val Gardena (Val Gardena). This is the Italian commune with 1,900 inhabitants, located in the province Bolzano (Bolzano) in Trentino Alto Adige (Trentino-Alto Adige). The chairlifts Col Raiser (Col Raiser) and Secheda (Seceda), located in the north, and Monte Pana (Monte Pana), situated in the south, are considered to be more famous. Monte Pana includes two ski jumping boards and trails, designed for cross-country skiing, which are more than 30 km in length.
In Santa Cristina, it is easy to get to many lifts of the area Dolomiti Superski, due to their location in the centre.
This ski resort, located in the Dolomites, is also famous for its black ski run Saslong (Saslong), the super-G races (super-G) are also conducted there. The breathtaking black ski run Ciampino (Ciampinoi) leads to Selva Gardena (Selva Gardena).
You can get to the ski area Secheda from Santa Cristina. There is a popular red trail and lots of easy trails. You can also get to Sella Ronda – the ski area, stretching around the majestic Sella massif; it includes slopes, which are 600 km in length and connected by modern lifts. Everybody can use them: both beginners and experts. This is a unique advantage to ski along the routes of Val Gardena, Val di Fassa and Arabba Alta Badia without removing the skis. The World Cup «Alpine FIS Ski World Cup» has been conducted on the famous track Champion (Ciampioni) in Santa Cristina for forty years.
On the plateau Monte Pana there are some simple gentle slopes, located on the sunny trails.
In the resort Santa Cristina there are schools, where you can be taught winter sports. You can choose group (from 5 to 10 people), mini-group (4 to 6 people) or individual lessons; the latest ones will cost you more. There are the nurseries, where the young guests can safely have fun.
In Santa Cristina in Val Gardena, there are modern and comfortable hotels, having spectacular outlooks over the Dolomites. In the centre of the village there is the zone with limited traffic, it is an ideal place to enjoy walking and shopping.
