Sicilia

Sicilia is the largest Italian island  surrounded by the Ionian Sea, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

Nature has given to this land all the best aspects as mountains, hills and especially the sea with its incredibly beautiful flowers, clear water and beautiful corals and bottom dotted with reefs; without forgetting the culture, the art, the old history and the gastronomic delicacies.

Sicily is surrounded also by beautiful islands as Eolie, Egadi and Pelagie, the most famous ones are Lipari, Vulcano, Stromboli, Favignana, Lampedusa and Pantelleria. On the territory of Sicily there are two active volcanoes: Etna, the most famous in Italy and in whole Europe. Assist to its eruptions or simply have an excursion till its top, it’s an unforgettable emotion; secondly there is Stromboli volcano is situated in the homonymous little Island of the Eolie.

Sicilia counts many cities:  Palermo, Agrigento, Catania, Caltanissetta, Enna, Messina, Ragusa, Siracusa Trapani, full of archeological ruins, cultural sites and historical areas, just to mention some of them: Cathedral of Monreale with its breathtaking  mosaics and its famous cloister, Palazzo Normanni and other main sightseeing that belongs to Norman Period; Valle dei Templi in Agrigento surrounded by olive and almond trees, citrus groves and vineyards stretching to the sea, with its imposing and elegant monuments evokes an atmosphere dated 2500 years ago; the nice town of Noto, famous as typical example of Baroque site, the lovely city of Siracusa and the wonderful Catania, with its classical picture with the Mediterranean Sea and the Etna with snowy peak on the background; the ruins of the area of Segesta, Selinunte and Erice. Most of the just mentioned sightseeing have been included in the World Heritage List  by UNESCO as World Heritage. We have to add to them also Eolie Islands, Etna, Siracusa and its necropolis of Pantalica, and more and more.

Sicilia provides a host of amazing places: for who that is interested in the landscapes  and wild nature,  can choose between regional parks reserves Etna, Madonie and Nebrodi, and the volcanic island of Pantelleria paradise dotted with charming views and full of Dammusi, its typical antique building built with volcanic stones, now used as touristic accommodation, full equipped and full of comforts.

The undisputed king of this ancient and beautiful island is undoubtedly the sea, so for who is looking for relax, Sicilia will offer thousand different ways to get benefit from a simple holidays here: fabulous beaches where have sun bath or practice water sport, wonderful hotels and residences, handicraft laboratories and shops, Thermal spas area as Sciacca  or Acireale with surfal waters and a large variety of local restaurants where appreciate the typical cuisine: Arancini, Pasta con le Sarde,  Cannoli, Cassata  together with a glass of good Zibibbo, Nero d’Avola, Alcamo or Passito di Pantelleria, just to mention fews of the spectacular local dishes of this island.
