Loreto is a nice town located on the right bank of the river Musone ; and  it is located in the province of Ancona in the Marche Region. Loreto is famous for hosting the Shrine of the Basilica of the Holy House one of the oldest and most important pilgrimage destination by the Catholic World. It is said that in the Basilica of the Holy House there lived the Holy Family, and it is here that the Archangel Gabriel  appeared to the Virgin Mary  .

Recent studies have shown that the three principal walls, made of a particular type of mortar sandstone and covered with graffiti present only in Palestine corresponds perfectly with the House of Mary in Nazzaret as evidenced at present by the hole left in the same spot where the house was located in Nazzaret.

The Holy Home is long 850 cm. , high  410 cm  and wide 380 cm . At the inside of the House there is an Altar that welcome a magnificent statue of the Virgin of Loreto and Child and all the original walls of the  14th century are covered with fantastic frescoes.  The  outside part of the House is all covered in marble,  one of the principal symbol of the Laurentina art.

In the 16th century, the best architects and artists belonging to the Italian Renaissance they began the construction of the Sanctuary designed to accommodate and protect the Sacred House and make the environment more suitable to prayer.

The Basilica is composed from a Cuple and from  several Chapels full of frescoes and paintings took by the more senior representatives of the various religious orders that they have achieved over the years.

On the left side of the Basilica stands the Tower ; it is high 75.60 mt.  and  houses nine bells  the main of these weighs 7 tons and it is considered the most great bell of the Marche Region.

In the main square of Loreto is located the principal amount monuments:

Palazzo Comunale , designed by Donato Bramante, a great Renaissance architect ; inside it is possible to admire paintings, sculptures, tapestries, ceramics from famous artists that were donated over the years by the Santa Casa.

Palazzo Apostolico , it is a magnificent building designed by Cristoforo Romano ,  and built by the architects Andrea Sansovino, Antonio da Sangallo and Giovanni Boccalini ; the Palace is located In the north-east  part of Piazza della Madonna .

Another landmark is the Aviation Heritage Museum ,where it is possible to  see samples of the Air Force military uniforms, and some of them are in a single copy.

The Loreto town  is  also surrounded by walls that were built in the 14th century as a defense in particular from  the invasion by the Turkish people in the Adriatic Sea.
